The new ETAC system leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to improve operational efficiency across M1’s microwave, IP, and optical transport networks. During the initial proof of concept, ETAC demonstrated its ability to identify interference sources, improve synchronisation monitoring, and deliver advanced service assurance and root cause analysis. The system also provides real-time, AI-driven insights, enabling proactive decision-making and optimisation of power usage in M1’s microwave links. This supports the company’s sustainability goals while enhancing overall network performance.
Following a successful trial, M1 will now begin commercial integration of the ETAC into its microwave transport network. Over time, the company plans to expand the use of ETAC to its IP transport network, further strengthening its infrastructure and service capabilities.
This development plays a key role in supporting mission-critical industries in Singapore. With its improved observability and resilience features, the enhanced 5G network will provide reliable and stable connectivity to enterprise clients, especially in sectors such as port operations, where consistent service delivery and minimal downtime are essential.
The collaboration between M1 and Ericsson highlights a shared focus on innovation and long-term digital transformation. It aims to drive progress in intelligent network automation, contributing to Singapore’s broader digitalisation initiatives and supporting key industries with sustainable and efficient solutions.
Denis Seek, Chief Technical Officer at M1, stated: “This marks a significant milestone in our digital transformation journey. By adopting intelligent automation, we are not only enhancing our network performance and reliability but also strengthening our commitment to sustainability and excellent customer experience.”
Daniel Ode, Head of Ericsson in Singapore, Philippines, and Brunei, added: “This collaboration reflects our shared vision with M1 to lead the future of network automation.”
As network automation becomes a critical component in the evolution of next-generation networks, this partnership positions M1 to deliver a high-performance 5G experience that meets the evolving demands of customers and industries across Singapore.
