Details about the containerships remain undisclosed, but the contract adds to HD Hyundai Mipo’s robust portfolio. Recently, the company also won a 230.6 billion won order to construct two liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers for Nieto Trading, a Netherlands-based company, with delivery scheduled for July 2027.
Additionally, HD Hyundai Mipo launched a 22,000 cubic meter liquefied CO2 carrier in Ulsan, noted as the world’s largest of its type. Commissioned by Capital Clean Energy Carriers, a Greek shipping firm, the vessel is the first of four identical units being built at the shipyard. Measuring 159.9 meters, the ship is equipped with three bi-lobe storage tanks that maintain a low temperature of -55°C and high pressure, five times atmospheric levels. This design supports the transport of liquefied gases, including LPG, ammonia, and liquefied CO2.
Kim Joo-hyun, a senior executive at HD Hyundai Mipo, said: “These contracts reflect our expertise in delivering advanced vessels tailored to diverse client needs. Our focus on innovative design and reliable delivery strengthens our position in the global shipbuilding market.” The company’s success in securing these orders highlights its capability to meet varied industry requirements.
Based in Ulsan, HD Hyundai Mipo continues to advance maritime transport solutions. The containerships, LPG carriers, and liquefied CO2 carriers demonstrate its versatility in addressing the global shipping industry’s need for specialized, energy-efficient vessels.
