The plant will receive milk directly from dairy farms in the surrounding area and distribute fresh fluid milk to more than 650 Walmart and Sam's Club stores throughout the southeastern United States.
The Valdosta operation will produce milk sold under Walmart's Great Value brand and Sam's Club Member's Mark private-label lines, helping the retailer maintain competitive pricing on everyday dairy items.
This facility forms part of Walmart's ongoing program to expand its own food processing network and strengthen supply chain reliability. The company already operates a milk processing plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana, opened in 2018, as well as case-ready beef plants in Georgia and Kansas.
By bringing more processing capacity in-house, Walmart aims to reduce costs, shorten transportation distances, and respond quickly to customer demand for affordable, high-quality dairy products.
A third Walmart milk processing facility, currently under construction in Robinson, Texas, remains on schedule to begin operations in 2026, as previously disclosed.
The Valdosta plant began production this week and is now supplying stores across Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and parts of neighboring states.
Walmart stated that the investment reflects its commitment to supporting American agriculture, creating employment opportunities in rural communities, and delivering consistent value to customers through vertically integrated supply chains.
The company continues to work closely with regional dairy cooperatives and independent farmers to secure a stable, high-quality milk supply for all its processing facilities.
